The unfinished list.
A short letter for anyone waiting to earn some peace.
Picture a room with a very comfortable chair.
Beside it stands a person holding a clipboard.
“Of course you can sit down,” they say. “Just finish these few things first.”
You glance at the list. Answer the messages. Make the decision. Become someone who never leaves washing in the machine.
At the bottom, in suspiciously fresh ink: Stop feeling behind.
This person is going to keep you standing for a while.
A small experiment.
Think of one unfinished thing. Something ordinary, rather than the biggest problem in your life.
Let it remain unfinished for the next comfortable breath. You can sit down, if you’d like. Let the breath arrive and leave without trying to make it impressive.
Now notice: did you immediately start bargaining? “Fine, but only if I work twice as hard afterward”?
Interesting, isn’t it? How quickly a moment of rest can become a negotiation.
You don’t have to solve that today. Simply noticing the bargain gives you something you can recognize next time.
The list can be unfinished. This breath can still be yours.
We’ll leave you with that for a moment.
